The hotel

Pirate Cay, renamed.

The island was once called Pirate Cay, and Anne Bonny and Mary Read may have sheltered among these islands. Plantation owners and a sponge exporter held it later. In 1988 a Kuwaiti family began a large building here, then left it empty after the Gulf War. Christina Ong of Singapore bought the island and opened it as a COMO resort in 1998.

The original house holds the traditional rooms and the social life of the place; newer villas along the beach are spare and modernist, with interiors by Keith Hobbs. Private houses stand at Rocky Point at the far end, and the resort makes its own fresh water.

  • COMO Shambhala The group's spa and wellness retreat, with yoga and Pilates every day for guests.
  • A butler for every room COMO butler service comes with every room, suite, beach house and villa.
  • Off the beach Kayaking through the mangroves, diving, fishing charters, tennis, padel and bicycles to ride the island.
