The hotel
Kimpton comes to the Bay Islands.
The resort took its first guests at the end of September 2023, the first Kimpton in the Western Caribbean and the brand's second in the region after Kimpton Seafire on Grand Cayman. It sits on West Bay Beach, where the sand gives way to the Iron Shore, a shelf of petrified coral at the start of the Mesoamerican reef.
LPA Architects drew the plan around an open-air lobby that looks into the jungle and out to sea. Theresa Fatino Design did the interiors with Kimpton's own team: warm wood, deep orange, lampshades woven by hand in Mexico and furniture made on the island. Rooms, suites, bungalows and condos number 119.
- The spa More than 10,500 square feet, with six treatment rooms, two couples' suites outdoors and a glass-bottomed infinity pool over the Iron Shore.
- On the reef The Drop Off is a rustic bar on the reef side of the beach, along the barrier reef that runs past the resort.

Juan Manuel Gálvez International (RTB) is about 12.6 kilometres from the resort, roughly 25 minutes by car by our estimate. Private jets use the same airport, which has customs; its tower works roughly 6 am to 8 pm, so arrivals are planned inside those hours.
