The hotel
A family house that grew into a resort.
Ad van der Valk bought a small plot on the water here and built a house for himself. That house is now the Master Villa. Five more villas followed around an infinity pool, one for each of his children, and then the suites. His partner Bibi dressed them in a Balinese style. The name joins Bibi, Ad and oase, the Dutch word for a spring in the desert.
The resort has been open for nearly fifteen years and is still run by the family, with Thijs van der Valk as managing director. It is laid out around a banyan tree some 75 years old, and a small island in front of the lagoon breaks the waves. In August 2026 Baoase Luxury Resort became Baoase Curaçao. Fourteen more units are due in early 2027.
- Isla Kiniw A private island in Spanish Water for up to eight guests, with four bedrooms, a grand piano, a full kitchen, its own beach and an infinity pool.
- A server of your own Each guest is given a personal server for the stay, part of the way the family has run the place from the start.
- On the water The resort keeps a 42-foot Boston Whaler for charters, and arranges snorkel trips, walks in Willemstad and the climb up Christoffel Mountain.

All 23 units have a patio, terrace or garden of their own. The suites have plunge pools, and the villas pools of their own.

- Suites Beachfront and Oceanfront Pool Suites Suites by the beach and lagoon with a private plunge pool. Honeymoon suites add an outdoor hot tub.
- Villas Tropical Pool Villa and Master Villa The Tropical Pool Villa has three bedrooms and a pool closed in by planting. The Master Villa, once the family home, is on two floors with dark-wood floors, a freeform pool and a hot tub.

Flying to Jan Thiel.
Curaçao International, at Hato on the north coast, is about 22 to 30 minutes away by car. Private jets use the same airport, where a dedicated jet centre handles passengers and a car drives you to the resort.
