The hotel
A society club, brought back.
The Potlatch Club was founded in 1967 near Governor's Harbour, in central Eleuthera, and in the 1960s and 1970s it drew New York society and the jet set; Paul McCartney spent his honeymoon here. The name comes from the potlatch, a feast of the Pacific Northwest at which hosts gave their possessions away. By the 1980s the buildings were falling apart.
Bruce Loshusan and Hans Febles found the ruin in 2016 and spent seven years restoring it. Febles laid out the gardens, and the Nassau designer Amanda Lindroth did the interiors. The checkered floors and whitewashed arches of the clubhouse were kept; pink coral stone, striped awnings and pastel walls came with the restoration. It reopened in June 2024 as an eleven-key hotel, and the MICHELIN Guide gave it a Key the following year.
