The hotel

Dutch gables on Palm Beach.

The Ritz-Carlton opened at the end of 2013 on Palm Beach, on the west coast of Aruba. The outside borrows from the Dutch colonial houses of the island. Inside, the lobby rises through two storeys of glass facing the Caribbean, and the rooms bring in touches of sea aqua and lemon yellow. When it opened, visitaruba.com called it the island's first five-star resort.

There are 320 rooms and suites over eight floors, and every one has a balcony. The whole seventh floor is the Club Level, with its own lounge and concierge. Downstairs, a casino of about 15,000 square feet runs round the clock, and the spa, about the same size, has thirteen treatment rooms and a water circuit. Children have the Ritz Kids club, and one of the two pools is kept for adults.

  • The spa About 15,000 square feet, thirteen treatment rooms and an indoor water circuit.
