The hotel

Dili's first five-star tower.

Palm Springs calls itself the first five-star property in Dili. Building began in the late 2010s, when Hilton signed to run it as its first hotel in Timor-Leste; the hotel now trades under its own name. It stands in Fatuhada, between the airport and the centre, in the district where many embassies and businesses have their offices.

There are 150 rooms and suites over nine floors. The pool and the restaurants sit on the eighth floor, the ballroom on the ninth, and The Sail grill and bar on the roof, with Cristo Rei on its headland to the east and Atauro out on the water. Eight meeting rooms take care of conferences.

Flying to Dili.

Presidente Nicolau Lobato International is a few minutes away, about ten by car by our estimate. Darwin is the busiest link, about an hour and a quarter each way, and there are direct flights from Bali and Singapore too. Business jets clear customs at the same airport.
