The hotel
A hotel for the hill country's cool nights.
Araliya Green Hills opened on 21 December 2013, with President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the ceremony. It belongs to the Araliya group of Dudley Sirisena, whose second hotel in town, Araliya Green City, opened further along the same road in 2017. Most of the staff were hired from Nuwara Eliya itself.
The town sits at 1,868 metres and afternoons rarely pass 23 °C, so the hotel was built for cool weather. Rooms have heaters, and the pool is heated and temperature-controlled, the first of its kind in town by the hotel's account. Victoria Park and the golf course are close by.
