The hotel
A lodge on the road to Tibet.
Shinta Mani Mustang opened in 2023 on a hillside above Jomsom, in the valley of the Kali Gandaki, in the region long called the gateway to Tibet. It was the first Shinta Mani outside Cambodia, built by HMD Asia with the Kathmandu group Sherpa Hospitality. Bill Bensley designed it, shaping the twenty-nine suites like Tibetan homes and making much of the furniture from recycled materials.
Each suite has floor-to-ceiling windows on Nilgiri. Stays run for five nights at least, and the rate covers meals and drinks, a personal guide, spa treatments and the flights from Kathmandu. Days go to Marpha and Lubra, to Muktinath and Kagbeni. In 2026 Robb Report put it first among its fifty greatest luxury hotels, and the MICHELIN Guide gave it a Key.
- Everything included Meals, drinks, guided outings, spa treatments and the transfers between Kathmandu and Jomsom, over a stay of five nights or more.
- Tibetan medicine Treatments begin with a consultation with an Amchi of the eleventh generation, and each spa suite has a hot plunge pool, steam room and sauna.
- Lower Mustang on foot Treks and village visits to Marpha and Lubra, and a day to Jharkot, Muktinath, Jhong and Kagbeni, with riding, archery and mountain biking.
