The hotel
Art on a Raa Atoll island.
JOALI Maldives opened on Muravandhoo in 2018 and calls itself the first art-immersive resort in the Maldives. Work by thirteen international artists is spread across the island, and every villa holds "Pearl" by the Turkish artist Seckin Pirim. Even the arrival jetty and a treehouse take the shape of a manta ray. Saoke, the Japanese restaurant over the water, was drawn by the architect Noriyoshi Muramatsu.
An artist in residence runs workshops in the island studio. The villas, on the beach under thatch or over the lagoon, mix marble and carved wood with Art Deco bars and freestanding baths, and each has a private infinity pool and a butler on call. In 2021 the group opened JOALI BEING, a wellbeing island, in the same atoll. Children have the Muramas Kids Club, open every day.
- Artscape Installations around the island and a studio where visiting artists teach guests.
- Muramas Kids Club For children from one to twelve, open daily from 9 am to 7 pm.
- The spa JOALI Spa by ESPA, with eight treatment rooms, a hammam and a floating yoga pavilion.
