The hotel

Named after the trees on the road.

RIU bought the land at Pointe Sarène in May 2019, began building in January 2020 and opened the hotel in April 2022, the group's first in West Africa. Luis Riu named it after the baobabs he passed on his way to the site, and the company asked for a licence to move 25 of the trees, Senegal's national tree, into the garden.

The resort lies on a long white beach about 20 km south of Saly and 100 km from Dakar, with part of the sand set aside for guests. It is a large place: 522 rooms, three big pools and a smaller one with a swim-up bar, a children's pool and a water park, plus a convention centre of five rooms. RIU owns the plot next door too.

  • Pools Five pools, among them a swim-up bar and slides for children, and the Splash Water World park.
  • Swim-Up rooms Adults-only rooms that open straight onto the water.
  • Renova Spa The spa, with a Riufit gym alongside.
