The city
Towers on one bank, museums on the other.
The financial district rises north of the Main, and the rebuilt Alte Oper stands on Opernplatz at its edge. Across the river, Sachsenhausen has the museum embankment, and to the north-west are the glasshouses of the Palmengarten. Seven Swans cooks in the narrowest building in the city, seven storeys high on the Mainkai.
Summer runs from May to September, with afternoons around twenty degrees and the driest weeks in September. Three kitchens hold two MICHELIN stars in 2026, among them the dune in the courtyard hotel that was once Villa Speyer.
Arriving
Twelve minutes from the runway to the Hauptbahnhof.
Frankfurt Airport sits south-west of the city, with its own long-distance railway station for ICE trains. The S8 and S9 reach the Hauptbahnhof in about twelve minutes and run roughly every ten.
