The hotel
The old Hotel Tahiti, back again.
From 1960 the Hotel Tahiti stood here on the lagoon at Faa'a, on land that had been part of the estate of the Tahitian royal family. It was one of the first places on the island to draw visitors from abroad, and film stars, politicians and royalty passed through its doors. It closed in 2010 and stood empty for eleven years.
The Wane group, which owns the Pacific Plaza shopping centre across the road, renovated it, and Hilton opened it under its own name in November 2021. There are two hundred rooms and suites, and the lobby is open to the air. Rooms have sliding French doors onto the garden or the lagoon, and a large pool with six cabanas looks across the channel to Moorea.
