The hotel

Hot springs in the middle of town.

Work on the hotel began in 2017, and the opening, first planned for late 2018, slipped three times before the doors opened in 2023. It is the second Le Méridien in Taiwan, and its Chinese name is 花蓮潔西艾美酒店. Hong Kong's HK01 called it the first resort hotel in central Hualien with its own hot spring, and it has 252 rooms and suites, with a spa, a gym and an outdoor pool alongside the baths.

The tower stands on Zhongzheng Road, about 600 metres from the Dongdamen Night Market, with the old railway quarter and Cishan Temple nearby. Rooms look either east over the Pacific or west to the mountains. Taroko Gorge is about 20 km to the north, and Hualien Airport about 13 minutes by car, so a morning in the gorge and an evening in the hot-spring bath fit into one day.

  • Spring-fed baths Public hot-spring baths in the onsen manner, and in some rooms a private semi-outdoor tub filled from the spring.
  • Ocean or mountains Every room faces one or the other; ask for the Pacific side to watch the sun come up over the water.
  • Close to the night market The Dongdamen Night Market is a walk of about 600 metres, with the old railway quarter close by.
