The hotel
A landowner's palace in the old town.
Francisco Royo y Salvador, a wealthy landowner, bought the old Casa Baylía and the house next to it, and in 1883 asked the architect Salvador Monmeneu to build him a town palace. Monmeneu worked in a grand, eclectic style. Over the following century the building was a family home, a seat of the Tribunal Supremo, the Casa Americana in the 1970s and offices of the Diputación de Valencia in the 1990s.
When builders opened up the floor during the conversion, they found the remains of a Roman perfumery from the third century, and the restaurant took its name. The renovation was completed in 2019 in a style drawn from Valencian Art Deco, with Lladró porcelain in the rooms and the bar. From the roof terrace you look over the Palau de la Generalitat towards the Plaza de la Virgen.
- La Perfumería The restaurant stands over the Roman perfumery and invites chefs with Michelin stars from abroad to cook as guests. Breakfast is served here too, à la carte.
- Lladró Lounge Bar Half bar, half museum, filled with porcelain from the Valencian house founded in 1953, with a rooftop bar above.
- Plaza Manises The Generalitat palace faces the door, and the cathedral and the Plaza de la Virgen are a few minutes away on foot.
