The hotel
Seven hundred years behind the walls.
The Chauhan Rajputs built the fort at Barwara in the 14th century. Inside its walls stand two palaces and two temples. In the Second World War, Raja Man Singh of Barwara served with the Jaipur State Forces and was made Rao Bahadur. His grandson, Prithviraj Singh, restored the fort with the Espire Group, and it opened as a Six Senses hotel on 15 October 2021.
The architects Panika, the practice of Nimish Patel and Parul Zaveri, led the work. The landscape designer Savita Punde and the horticulturist Pradeep Kishen kept the old gardens, water channels and native plants, and below the walls Barwara Lake is being cleared of invasive species. The fort stands in the Sawai Madhopur district, well outside Jaipur, and Ranthambore National Park is about thirty minutes away.
- The spa About 2,800 square metres given to massage, Ayurvedic treatment and yoga at sunrise and sunset, in one of the fort's two temples.
- Dinner in the tower Private dinners served in the old observation tower, above the village and the lake.
- Ranthambore The national park, known for its tigers, is about half an hour by car.
