The hotel
Soneva's third island.
Sonu and Eva Shivdasani opened Soneva Fushi in Baa Atoll in 1995, and Soneva Jani in Noonu Atoll after it. Soneva Secret, the third, took its first guests in 2024 on Dhipparufushi, an island in Haa Dhaalu Atoll. It is the only resort in that atoll, and the company says it was three decades in the making. The island grows its own herbs and vegetables, makes its own water, runs on solar power in part and keeps a coral nursery with the Soneva Foundation.
The villas come in six types, on the beach, over the lagoon, or out on the water where only a boat can reach them. One of them, the Castaway, floats: a two-storey villa built to move with the waves, the first of its kind in the Maldives. In 2026 the MICHELIN Guide gave the resort three Keys, its highest mark.
- Out of This World Dinner at the top of a lookout tower reached by zip line, with South American cooking and the wine cellar inside.
- A team for each villa Every villa has a Barefoot Guardian, a Barefoot Assistant and its own chef, cooking whatever you ask for.
- In the water Snorkelling with marine biologists, dolphin cruises at sunset, and the chance of mantas and whale sharks.
Rooms & suites
Six kinds of villa, on sand and sea.
The villas run from about 450 square metres to more than 1,100; the master bedrooms have a roof that retracts for stargazing.

- Out at sea Crusoe Villa 461 square metres on two floors, reached only by boat, with a freshwater pool, catamaran nets, a gym, a spa room and a slide from the upper deck into the lagoon.
- Afloat Castaway Villa 461 square metres over two storeys, floating on the lagoon, with a saltwater pool and its own waterslide.
