The hotel
A new hotel on an old island.
Andros is the largest island in the Bahamas and one of the least visited, a long stretch of mangroves, creeks and flats west of Nassau. Caerula Mar Club opened at Driggs Hill, on the south-east shore, in 2020, the first new hotel on the island in decades. The family behind it found the island on a boat trip, and the resort now holds one MICHELIN Key.
The clubhouse holds a heated saltwater pool above the sea, the restaurants and a row of suites with oak floors and marble. Along the beach, the old cottages have become villas with wooden porches. Offshore lie the reef and the bonefish flats of the Southern Bight, which draw anglers from March to May and again from September to November, when the fishing is at its best.
- Bonefishing Guides take skiffs from Driggs Hill to the flats, bays and creeks of the Southern Bight and the West Side.
- On the water Kayaks, paddleboards, snorkelling gear and bikes are included; diving, reef trips and mangrove tours are arranged by the staff.
- No screens The rooms have no televisions. Wi-Fi reaches the whole resort, and there is a lending library.
