The hotel
From village pub to country inn.
The house began as a farmhouse in the sixteenth century and spent much of its life as the Masons Arms, the pub of South Leigh, a village between Oxford and the edge of the Cotswolds. The thatch, the flagstone floors, the beams and the inglenook fireplace all survive.
Under the Artist Residence name it became an inn of fifteen rooms. Antiques sit beside modern furniture, and the walls carry contemporary art; the pub was designed with The Connor Brothers, and a neon piece by Andy Doig hangs in the dining room. The rooms are spread through the farmhouse, the old stable and barn, and a shepherd's hut in the grounds.
- The Mason Arms The pub and restaurant on the ground floor, cooking English country food for guests and the village alike.
- Art on every wall Contemporary pieces hang beside antiques throughout the house, in keeping with the Artist Residence name.
- Rooms in the yard Beyond the farmhouse, the stable and barn rooms open onto private terraces, and a shepherd's hut stands on its own.
