The hotel

Named for its door number.

The hotel takes its name from its address, number 66 on St Paul's Street. The building is a Maltese palazzo of the 1600s, and the Church of St Paul's Shipwreck stands right beside it. In the hall, on the stairs and around the open courtyard the limestone has been left as it was, worn by four centuries. From the roof terrace the view runs across the Grand Harbour to the Three Cities.

Upstairs the eighteen rooms are contemporary, with a stretch of old stone wall here and there. The palazzo was never built for guests, so no two rooms share a layout. There is no restaurant: breakfast and coffee are served in the house, and the rest of the evening belongs to Valletta. The MICHELIN Guide lists it in its hotel selection.

  • The roof A small, unheated pool on the fourth-floor terrace, with sunbeds and a view across the harbour to the Three Cities.
  • The spa Down in the basement: massages, body and facial treatments, also available in your room.
  • The street Upper Barrakka Gardens and the Manoel Theatre are a short walk away, and St Paul's Shipwreck is next door.
