The hotel

Named after a silver mine.

The Mollie Gibson was the richest silver mine in Aspen in the late nineteenth century, named by its owner after his sister. The hotel took the name in December 2023, when the Aspen developers HayMax Capital opened it on the site of the old Mollie Gibson Lodge, on the corner of Main and Garmisch and across the road from Paepcke Park.

CCY Architects, an Aspen firm, designed the building. Post Company did the interiors in pale woods, earthen ceramics and hand-dyed textiles, closer to Bauhaus and Japanese and Scandinavian modernism than to the usual ski lodge. A black marble fireplace warms the lobby. On the roof, a spa pool looks straight at Aspen Mountain, and after dark the terrace turns into a lounge.

  • The roof A spa pool and a bar facing Aspen Mountain, a lounge once the sun goes down.
  • Petit Trois Ludo Lefebvre's Paris bistro, the first outside Los Angeles, with a wine list by two Master Sommeliers.
  • In town Main Street and the restaurants of the old town are on the doorstep, and a shuttle runs guests to the lifts.
