The hotel
Six floors above the palace.
Four Seasons opened its second Tokyo hotel in September 2020, on the top six floors of Otemachi One, a 39-storey tower by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. Otemachi is the city's financial district, and the hotel sits on its edge, directly above the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace. Otemachi station is a short walk away. With 190 rooms, it is more than three times the size of the brand's older Marunouchi hotel nearby.
Jean-Michel Gathy of Denniston designed the interiors with Design Studio Spin: a tall lobby, an Art Deco bar and a pool facing the skyline. The hotel keeps its own collection of contemporary art, and the rooms carry work by the artist Namiko Kitaura. In 2026 the MICHELIN Guide gave the hotel three Keys for the third year in a row, one of seven hotels in Japan at that level.
