The hotel
A private flat above Marienplatz.
The Geisel family has kept hotels in Munich since 1900, and the brothers Carl, Michael and Stephan now run them in the fourth generation. BEYOND took over the two top floors of the Hugendubel building on Marienplatz and has welcomed guests since the end of 2017. Some rooms and the wine lounge look straight at the Neues Rathaus and its Glockenspiel, and the S-Bahn station is under the square.
The Madrid studio Nieto Sobejano designed it as a home: an atrium eight metres high under a round skylight, shelves holding about 450 books, three LED works by the artist Daniel Canogar, and an open Gaggenau kitchen. Breakfast, meals on request, the wines in the wine room and the minibar are all in the rate. The whole house can also be taken for a family or a company.
- The kitchen An open Gaggenau kitchen next to the living room, cooking from breakfast to a midnight snack. Anything beyond the package is ordered à la carte.
- The library About 450 books in an atrium eight metres high, lit from a round skylight.
- The Glockenspiel Some rooms and the wine lounge face the town hall's clock across the square.
