The hotel
A village by the lowest water on earth.
Zara Investment Holding opened the resort in 1999 on the northern shore of the Dead Sea at Sweimeh, about 420 metres below sea level. It was built as a village: low buildings among gardens, with rooms in the main block and more scattered through the lanes, some with oriental-style sitting rooms. It was among the first hotels in the region to heat its water with the sun.
The Zara Spa covers 6,000 square metres, with an infinity pool, steam rooms and Dead Sea beach and medical treatments. Around it the resort runs nine restaurants and bars, a kids' club and a tennis court. The Baptism Site lies eight kilometres north, and Madaba and Mount Nebo are about twenty minutes by car. Rooms run from 29 square metres in the main building to a Royal Villa of 185 with six bedrooms.
- Zara Spa Six thousand square metres of pools, steam rooms and treatment rooms looking over the Dead Sea, with beach and medical treatments.
- Chocolate Hour A Chocolate Hour every day, in keeping with the Swiss brand, alongside Swiss-inspired dishes.
- Close to the sights The Baptism Site 8 kilometres away, the hot springs of Hammamat Ma'in at 18.5, and Mount Nebo about twenty minutes by car.
