The hotel
A desert-named resort on the south coast.
The Touareg opened in 2011 on Praia de Lacacão, on the southern shore of Boa Vista, with separate areas for families and for adults. The name points to the Sahara, as do those of its bars and restaurants: Atlas, Bereber, Mauritania. Rooms come as doubles, some facing the sea, family rooms and suites with sea views, and five pools sit between the buildings and the beach.
Riu then renovated the whole resort: new furniture, finishes and bathrooms in all 1,181 rooms, new climate control, a bigger main restaurant and wider sun terraces. It reopened on 5 October 2026 with the focus on families. Around it the island is open dunes and desert, with Sal Rei and the airport to the north.

Getting there
Flying to Boa Vista.
Aristides Pereira International Airport, about 25 kilometres to the north, takes scheduled flights from Europe and private jets. Allow about forty minutes by car, our estimate. The airport is open from 8 am to 6 pm local time.
