The hotel
A refit by the sea at Sal Rei.
The Barceló group spent almost fifteen million euros renovating a hotel on the shore at Sal Rei, the island's small capital. It reopened on 9 September 2025 as a five-star address for adults only, the group's third hotel in Cape Verde within a few months. The press called it the first fully renovated hotel on the island. The stay is all inclusive.
The setting is the north-west coast of Boa Vista, where the town meets the sea. Praia da Cruz is about 900 metres away on foot, and Praia Cabral a twelve-minute walk. Beyond the town the island opens into dunes and the Viana desert, and its long beaches are nesting grounds for loggerhead turtles.
