Hilton opened the hotel in May 2011 as the first five-star hotel in Windhoek, and its fiftieth in the Middle East and Africa. More than two hundred Namibians were hired and trained for the opening. It stands on the corner of Rev. Michael Scott Street and Sam Nujoma Drive, in the business district near Freedom Square.
The Alte Feste, the old German fort, and the Lutheran Christuskirche are its neighbours. Eight floors of rooms sit below a roof given over to guests: a heated pool, a gym, the Mondjila Wellness Centre and Skybar, open to the city views. In summer there is a braai on the roof on Friday evenings.
- Skybar Drinks and meals on the ninth floor, with the old town and the Christuskirche below.
