The hotel
Kerry Hill in the round.
The Ritz-Carlton Maldives opened in June 2021 on the Fari Islands, a small group in North Malé Atoll shared with a marina village and another resort. Kerry Hill Architects drew the villas as circles, echoing the beru, the Maldivian drum, with clean geometric lines and the ocean in every direction. By 2026 Forbes Travel Guide had given the resort five stars four years running.
There are a hundred villas, on the beach and over the lagoon, and each has its own infinity pool and an island butler. The spa is a ring over the water with nine treatment rooms laid out to the points of the compass. Restaurants sit on a Culinary Island and at Fari Marina Village, seven places to eat and drink in all.
- The spa A ring-shaped building over the lagoon, nine treatment rooms and Bamford organic products.
- Fari Marina Village Shops, Arabesque and the Tum Tum street-food trailer, beside the resort.
- Ritz Kids An indoor and outdoor club for ages four to twelve, with a pool and slides.
