The hotel
LVMH on a Noonu island.
Cheval Blanc Randheli opened in 2013, the second hotel from LVMH's Cheval Blanc house. The Belgian architect Jean-Michel Gathy drew whitewashed villas under palapa roofs, set over the lagoon and among the gardens, and finished them in teak, rattan, thatch and shell in white, taupe and oyster grey. In every villa hangs a coloured sculptural spot by the French artist Vincent Beaurin.
The island sits in Noonu Atoll, about forty minutes from Malé by seaplane. The spa occupies an island of its own, reached by dhoni, with Guerlain treatments. The main restaurant, Le 1947, takes its name from a vintage of Château Cheval Blanc, and the resort scent was composed by François Demachy, the Dior perfumer. Each year the resort closes for about a month of upkeep: in 2026 it shut on 1 June and reopened on 1 July.
- The spa island A traditional dhoni crosses the lagoon to the spa, where treatments follow Guerlain protocols and a spa bar waits afterwards.
- Clubs for every age Le Carrousel looks after younger children, and Le Paddock is kept for teenagers.
- Le 1947 The gastronomic room, in a tropical garden, cooks French food with Asian touches, such as Maldivian tuna tartare.
