The hotel
The white horse of Kitzbühel.
The house began as a coaching inn, where horses were changed on the road between Salzburg and Innsbruck. When Kitzbühel took up skiing in the late nineteenth century, the inn was turned into a hotel and given the name Weisses Rössl, the white horse. Below it, stone walls from the fifteenth century survive from a tower built to guard the town's silver and copper.
After a full renovation the hotel reopened in December 2017, with wood, local stone and velvet set against the old fabric. It belongs to The Leading Hotels of the World, the only member in town. The Hahnenkamm valley station and the finish of the Streif are within walking distance, and Toni Sailer's birthplace stands about twenty metres away.
