The hotel
From cure house to the Big Four.
Le Grand Bellevue opened in 1912 as a cure house and spa near the Promenade, and calls itself the oldest palace hotel in Gstaad. The MICHELIN Guide counts it among the original Big Four, and finds it more understated than its flashier neighbours. The century-old façade still faces the village, and the hotel has stayed small, with fifty-seven rooms and suites.
Daniel and Davia Koetser bought it at its centenary. He is a Swiss-born hotel developer, she an interior designer, and together they reworked the interiors over a year before it reopened on 13 December 2013. The family still owns it. The spa of the early days lives on in Le Grand Spa, about 3,000 square metres, with a thermal area of seventeen zones.
- Le Grand Spa About 3,000 square metres, with a thermal area of seventeen zones, with an indoor pool and an outdoor relaxation pool.
- A cinema of its own A private screening room in the hotel, and a vintage Bentley for drives.
- LEONARD's Cellar A private dining room for eighteen inside a wine cellar of more than 9,000 bottles.
