The hotel
Mozart's address, a bank's headquarters.
Alois Pichl drew the neoclassical building in 1835, and for much of its life it served as the headquarters of Erste Group, the Austrian savings bank. The block also takes in the flat where Mozart lived while writing The Abduction from the Seraglio. Four restored houses now make up the hotel, with St. Peter's Church on the other side of the square.
Rosewood opened it on 1 August 2022, the group's first hotel in a German-speaking country. The Vienna architects A2K and BEHF handled the conversion, Alexander Waterworth of London the rooms, and the local studio Kroenland the brasserie and the bar on the roof. The restaurant has its own door on Tuchlauben. The Graben and Kohlmarkt are a few minutes away on foot.
- Neue Hoheit The brasserie on the sixth floor, with windows and terraces over the roofs of the old town and Austrian cooking.
- THE1835 A speakeasy-style bar at the top of the building, with views across the first district.
- Asaya Spa Two floors with four treatment rooms, a sauna, a steam bath and a social suite, the first Asaya Spa outside Asia.
