The hotel

Nine floors at the top of Midtown.

The Tokyo Midtown development in Roppongi opened at the end of March 2007, and the Ritz-Carlton took its first guests on 30 March. Skidmore, Owings & Merrill designed the main tower with Nikken Sekkei: 248 metres, and at the time the tallest building in the city. The hotel has the ground-floor entrance, two floors above it and the floors from the 45th to the 53rd.

Frank Nicholson designed the interiors, and the American painter Sam Francis made four works for the hotel. The rooms opened at about 52 square metres, large for Tokyo then. Today the MICHELIN Guide lists 245 rooms, and Héritage by Kei Kobayashi, the French restaurant, holds one star in the 2026 Tokyo guide. The spa on the 46th floor has a 20-metre pool, and the MICHELIN Guide gave the hotel one Key in 2026.

  • The 46th-floor spa A full-service spa with a 20-metre indoor pool, a hot tub and a sauna, all high above the city.
  • Héritage by Kei Kobayashi Kei Kobayashi's French contemporary cooking, with one MICHELIN star in the 2026 Tokyo guide.
  • Club Lounge Club rooms come with use of the Club Lounge on the hotel's upper floors.
