The hotel
A hotel within the New Otani.
The Hotel New Otani opened in 1964, the year Tokyo held its first Olympics, in Kioicho beside the Akasaka Estate. Its grounds hold a Japanese garden about four hundred years old, some ten acres of waterfalls, red bridges, rocks and a koi pond. The complex grew to dozens of restaurants and bars, an outdoor pool open in summer and several spas, with a tennis court besides.
Executive House Zen opened in 2008: two floors of the main building, the 11th and 12th, set apart as a hotel of their own with 83 rooms. Guests check in and out at their own lounge, which serves food six times a day, with Pierre Hermé pastries and views over Akasaka Palace to Mount Fuji. The rest of the New Otani is a lift ride away.
- The rose garden About 30,000 roses on the roof, at their best in early summer and autumn. One couple a day can book breakfast there in season.
- The Japanese garden Four centuries old and about ten acres, with waterfalls and a koi pond, seen from the rooms and the teppanyaki house Sekishin-Tei.
- The Golden Spa Included in the stay, with a sauna, pool and gym; the suites also have massage tables for treatments in the room.
