The hotel

Milan, forty floors above Yaesu.

Bulgari opened its eighth hotel in April 2023, on floors 40 to 45 of Tokyo Midtown Yaesu, a Mitsui Fudosan tower beside Tokyo Station. A private lift climbs to the lobby on the 40th floor, where pieces of Bvlgari jewellery are shown in cases and changed with the seasons. On clear days the windows look past the Imperial Palace grounds as far as Mount Fuji.

Antonio Citterio and Patricia Viel designed the interiors in their contemporary Italian manner, with furniture by Maxalto, Flexform and B&B Italia. Japan comes in through the details: Hosoo textiles in the rooms, from a house known for kimono cloth, and an eight-seat sushi counter facing a rock garden. The MICHELIN Guide inspectors wrote that, the views aside, you might think you were in Milan.

  • Bvlgari Spa A thousand square metres on the 40th floor, with nine treatment rooms and a 25-metre indoor pool looking over the city.
  • Bvlgari Bar On the 45th floor, with an indoor counter and two half-covered terraces above the city.
  • Sushi Hōseki Eight seats over a private rock garden, with an omakase by Kenji Gyoten, the chef of Sushi Gyoten.

Italian rooms, Japanese cloth.

All 98 rooms and suites sit between the 40th and 45th floors, furnished by Italian makers and dressed with Hosoo textiles.
