The hotel
The first Andaz in Japan.
Andaz Tokyo opened on 12 June 2014, the first Andaz in Japan and the twelfth in the world. It fills floors 47 to 52 of Toranomon Hills, a tower of fifty-two storeys that the MICHELIN Guide counts as the second tallest in the city. There are 164 rooms, eight of them suites, and the standard rooms run to about fifty square metres. Tokyo Tower is close by.
Tony Chi of New York and Shinichiro Ogata of Tokyo designed the interiors together, in washi paper, walnut and marble, with sliding Japanese partitions between the sleeping and living spaces. The tower also holds a chapel on the 52nd floor and six event studios on the 51st. Ten floors further down, the spa and its pool look out over the city.
- The Rooftop Bar Semi-open to the sky on the 52nd floor, with Tokyo Bay and Odaiba in front of you and a tea counter inside. Guests must be twenty or over.
- the SUSHI Eight seats behind the bar, where chefs serve edo-mae sushi as an omakase.
- AO Spa & Club A twenty-metre infinity pool, five treatment rooms and a gym on the 37th floor, with Mount Fuji in view on clear days.
