The hotel
Sixteen floors of silk.
The hotel opened on 1 March 1991 as part of Pacific Place, on the edge of Admiralty. Wong & Ouyang designed the tower, 57 floors and 213 metres high. A bubble lift rises from the mall to the entrance on level five, and the rooms look over the harbour from the floors above.
At its heart is The Great Motherland of China, a landscape in 250 silk panels running from the 41st floor to the 56th. Forty artists from Beijing took six months to paint it, and only guests see it, from the inner atrium. The French designer Tristan Auer led a renovation in four phases, finished in 2024, that brought lighter colours to the rooms.
- The atrium painting The Great Motherland of China climbs sixteen floors of the inner atrium, 250 silk panels seen only by guests.
- A floor for families The 45th floor holds 21 themed family rooms and suites, among them an airship and a fairy garden, with The Hangout and The Pantry for children.
- Two starred kitchens Petrus for French cooking and Summer Palace for Cantonese, each with one MICHELIN star in the 2026 guide.
