The hotel

A bank and a palace in the old town.

Rosewood Munich fills two heritage buildings on Kardinal-Faulhaber-Straße. One is the former headquarters of the Bavarian State Bank, from the nineteenth century. The other is the Palais Neuhaus-Preysing, an aristocratic town house dating from 1703. Hilmer Sattler Architekten Ahlers Albrecht restored them, and Tara Bernerd & Partners did most of the interiors. Between them the two buildings hold 132 rooms and suites, a ballroom of 234 square metres and a spa over two floors.

The hotel opened in October 2023, the first Rosewood in Germany, and the MICHELIN Guide gave it two Keys. Its five houses are named after members of the Wittelsbach family, who ruled Bavaria for centuries. The bar is named after Lola Montez, the dancer whose affair with Ludwig I helped cost him his throne. Marienplatz, the cathedral and the Residenz are all within walking distance.

  • Asaya Spa The first Asaya Spa in Germany: about 1,300 square metres over two floors, an indoor pool lined with columns, two saunas, a herbal steam room and six treatment rooms.
  • Bar Montez Cocktails and live jazz in a vintage-style room designed by DiPPOLD.
  • Local art Local art throughout the house, with works by Olaf Hajek, Rosanna Merklin and Michael Mann.

Fifty-nine of the 132 keys are suites. At the top of the range sit five houses named after the Wittelsbachs, with up to four bedrooms.
