The hotel
Bavaria, seen by designers.
The Andaz opened in February 2019 at Schwabinger Tor, a new quarter built on Leopoldstraße, as the first hotel of Hyatt's Andaz brand in Germany. It has 234 rooms and 43 suites, a grill, a coffee bar and a bar on the roof, and the English Garden is a short walk away. Bicycles can be hired in the coffee bar downstairs for the ride over.
The Amsterdam studio concrete did the interiors, and they play with Bavarian clichés. A large pretzel stands in the lobby, a video by the Munich artist Yves Peitzner shows Bavarian skies over the lounge, and the art director Mirko Borsche made the pieces in the rooms. The spa covers two floors and 2,000 square metres, with a sundeck facing the Alps.
- M'Uniqo The rooftop bar, which the hotel calls the highest in the city, with views in every direction and Mediterranean plates with the cocktails.
- The spa Two floors and 2,000 square metres, with an indoor pool, a sauna and a sundeck looking towards the Alps and the Olympic Park.
- Bicicletta A coffee bar on the ground floor that also hires out bicycles for the ride to the English Garden.
