The hotel

A small house on the reef.

Ibagari opened in 2017 on Tamarind Drive in West Bay, where the Mesoamerican reef starts a few metres off the beach. All the rooms are suites, some looking into the jungle and some out to sea, with a two-bedroom villa among them.

Inside, the look is modernist: white walls, wooden floors and French doors onto timber terraces, with bright colour from the art hung through the building. MICHELIN singles out the collection. Two infinity pools face the water, the larger with a heated whirlpool under the trees, and Luna Muna, a restaurant built in wood, sits on the shore.

  • Duna Divers The hotel's own PADI centre, with equipment, lessons and boat trips to the reef.
  • Two infinity pools Both look over the Caribbean. The larger has a heated whirlpool shaded by tropical trees.
  • Art on the walls Modernist rooms in bright tropical colours, hung with an art collection the MICHELIN Guide picks out.
