The hotel
Robert Duvall's old estancia.
The main house is a posada about a hundred years old, built in the Spanish colonial manner with whitewashed walls and a red-tiled roof. The American actor Robert Duvall kept it as his country estate. Later the Fenestraz family, French hoteliers, bought and restored it, keeping the original tiled floors and wooden shutters and lightening the rooms.
Around the house lie some 100 hectares of garden, pasture and centuries-old trees, with a river running through and the foothills of the Andes rising behind. Indoors there is a living room with a fire and indigenous fabrics, and a white winter garden. Beds are made up with hand-embroidered linen. Relais & Châteaux counts it as a member.
- Asado in the garden The house is known for its barbecue, cooked in an old earthen oven and over open fire, and often served outdoors.
- A riverside picnic Lunch carried down to the river on the estate, with Cerdo Negro ham cured nearby and wine from Salta.
- The spa A Turkish bath, sauna and jacuzzi, with treatments on request and a heated outdoor pool.
