The hotel
Old walls in the university quarter.
The hotel occupies a historical building in La Xerea, a quarter of the old town, beside a university that has taught here for some six hundred years. The architecture of the old house was kept, and the rooms were furnished around it with modernist pieces and a plain, contemporary hand. The MICHELIN Guide describes the rooms as calm and residential in feel.
Helen Berger was one of ten hotels in the Staying Valencia group before Room Mate bought the lot, and Room Mate now lists it in its Collection. The neighbourhood stays busy late into the night. The National Museum of Ceramics is about two minutes away, the cathedral ten, and bicycles can be hired for the Turia gardens and the beach.
- Two penthouses The top rooms, about 45 square metres each, open onto their own terraces above the old town.
- Helen Berger Restaurant An all-day restaurant and bar on the main floor, cooking Valencian and international dishes.
- On foot The cathedral, the Plaça de la Reina and the ceramics museum are all within a short walk.
