The hotel
A Grove landmark, refitted.
The original Mayfair in Coconut Grove was a 1980s building by the architect Kenneth Treister. The New York studio Goodrich later reworked it into the present hotel. At its centre is an open atrium lined with plants, and around it the 179 rooms are done in bright colours with retro touches, several of them with clawfoot soaking tubs. A garden runs off the lobby, which explains the second half of the name.
Up on the roof, the Sipsip rum bar is a nod to the Bahamian settlers of the Grove, beside a pool with daybeds and views of the bay. Travel + Leisure put the hotel on its It List in 2023, and Condé Nast Traveler added it to the Gold List for 2026. The MICHELIN Guide gives it one Key, and HEI Hotels & Resorts has managed it since late 2025.
- Sipsip on the roof A Calypso rum bar beside the rooftop pool, with daybeds and views over Coconut Grove and the bay.
- The garden The Fountain Lounge sits in the garden off the lobby, and the Mayfair Grill has its own garden café.
- Bicycles The hotel lends bicycles free of charge for getting around the Grove.
