The hotel

From surf shack to two Keys.

Boardwalk began in 1989 as a hideaway for surfers, on what had been a coconut plantation behind Palm Beach. In 2011 it passed to Kimberly and Stephanie Rooijakkers, twin sisters born on Aruba, who still own and run it, for adults only. They kept it small: 49 casitas in a single garden, and never more than about a hundred guests at a time.

Each casita has a patio, a hammock, a barbecue and a kitchen or kitchenette, and some have plunge pools or outdoor showers. The hotel is certified Travelife Gold and Green Globe. In 2025 it became the first hotel in the ABC Islands to receive two MICHELIN Keys, and it kept them in 2026. Palm Beach is about five minutes away on foot, and the hotel keeps palapas there for its guests.

  • A place on Palm Beach Palapas and loungers kept for guests on the sand, five minutes' walk away.
  • Two pools Two pools in the grounds, as well as the hotel's own spot on the beach.
  • Slow evenings Sound baths afloat on the sea at sunset, and a library of dominoes and Polaroid cameras to borrow.
