The hotel

Forty years on the peninsula.

Le Guanahani opened in 1986 on a peninsula of about seven hectares, between the Grand Cul-de-Sac lagoon and Marigot Bay. It is the largest hotel on St Barth. In September 2017 Hurricane Irma destroyed it. Rosewood took over in 2020 and the resort reopened in November 2021, rebuilt with architecture by David M. Schwarz and interiors by Luis Pons. Many of the cottages gained private pools in the work.

After the owner David Bonderman died in December 2024, his heirs sold. Stéphane Courbit's LOV Group bought the building, Rosewood left on 1 October 2026, and the hotel reopens on 1 November as Airelles Le Guanahani, the group's tenth house and its first on a beach. The staff stay on, and no building works were announced for the changeover. For now the cottages, the beaches and the two pools stay as Rosewood left them.

  • Two beaches The lagoon side at Grand Cul-de-Sac is calm for swimming, kayaks and paddleboards; Maréchal beach faces the open sea.
  • Airelles Spa Treatments developed with Laboratoires Botanique Avancée, and a pool kept for adults.
  • Cottages, all of them Every room is a freestanding bungalow in island colours, looking over the gardens or the sea.
