The hotel
The first new grand hotel in Gstaad for a century.
The old Grand Hotel Alpina was pulled down in 1995, and thirteen years of local opposition held up what came next. The owners, Jean-Claude Mimran and Marcel Bach, finally built a new hotel on the hillside above the village, in the three-storey chalet style the local rules demanded. It opened on 1 December 2012, the first large new hotel in Gstaad for about a hundred years.
From outside it could pass for a building fifty or a hundred years older. Inside, the designers at HBA worked with warm wood, local craftsmanship and antiques, and an art collection runs through the house. Gault&Millau named it Hotel of the Year in 2013. Chalets and apartments on the same site helped pay for it, and private Residences can still be booked alongside the hotel rooms.
- Six Senses Spa The brand's first spa in Switzerland, with indoor and outdoor pools, saunas and steam baths, included in the room rate.
- Panorama Suite The largest suite, 400 square metres, with a wellness area of its own.
- For families Supervised activities for children, and a private cinema for everyone.
