The city

Sand, a cape and a monastery.

Ayia Napa grew around a monastery that still stands at the centre of town, a Venetian church of about 1500 set in older walls. Around it the resort has spread along a coast of twenty-seven beaches, fourteen of them with Blue Flags, from Nissi Bay in the west to Konnos Bay and the headland of Cape Greco in the east. Protaras lies about twelve kilometres further up the coast.

Almost no rain falls from June to September, August reaches 33 °C, and the sea holds 27 to 28 °C from July to September. The season is long, and in April and November the days are still in the low twenties.
