The city
The big side of the Arlberg.
St. Anton sits at 1,304 metres on the Tyrolean side of the pass, with the Valluga rising to 2,811 metres above it. The ski area it shares with St. Christoph, Stuben, Zürs and Lech counts 300 kilometres of marked piste, 200 more off-piste and 85 lifts; the longest run drops 7.5 kilometres from the Valluga past the Ulmer Hütte to the village. The town has made its own electricity since 1921.
Ski Arlberg opens its lifts on 2 December 2026 and closes them on 18 April 2027. The closing weekend belongs to the Weisser Rausch, a mass start on the Vallugagrat and a race down 7.5 kilometres of ungroomed snow; 555 took part in 2026. Trains stop in the village itself: Railjet and Eurocity services call every two hours, and the station is a short walk from the cable cars.
