The hotel
A family resort at Lalomanu.
Aga Reef was the dream of the father of Va'atuitui Apete Meredith, and the family built it at Lalomanu, the village of the family matriarch, Lupe Meredith. The resort is dedicated to her. Va'atuitui looked at the Seychelles and the Maldives before he settled the design, chose timber and colours to suit the shore, and fixed every piece of furniture before building began.
Some villas stand on a small island in the lagoon, reached by a bridge, with fish visible from the decks. In 2017 the World Boutique Hotel Awards named it Australasia's Best Relaxation Retreat. The resort was largely shut in 2021 and closed again from April 2022; guest reviews from mid-2026 show it trading again. The To Sua trench is about twelve minutes away by road.
