The hotel
An island of granite and forest.
Félicité covers 652 acres of steep hills and forest, edged by granite boulders that the sea has worn smooth. Six Senses opened here on 7 October 2016 and built on about a third of the island, leaving the rest to the forest. The resort was designed by the group's own architects with Richard Hywel Evans of Studio RHE in London, in local wood and white marble.
An ecologist works on the staff. The team clears invasive species and replants endemic trees, and hawksbill turtles still come ashore to lay their eggs by daylight. A path climbs to Top Hill past Coco de Mer palms, which grow wild on only two islands. From the residences on the ridge, the view takes in Praslin, La Digue and the Coco islands.
- A spa in the rocks Five treatment pavilions, a hammam, a sauna and a saltwater pool facing the ocean, set among the boulders away from the main house.
- Ocean Kitchen A seafood restaurant with an open kitchen on the rocks above the water, with no meat on the menu.
- The island itself Hiking to the summit, paddleboarding, swimming with turtles and boat trips to the neighbouring islands, arranged by a guest experience maker.
