The hotel

A casino on the waterfront.

Coral Sea opened softly at the end of November 2015, with a grand opening planned for 5 December. It was conceived as a resort with a casino in three phases, and the first brought two gaming floors with slot machines, baccarat, blackjack, roulette, poker and a VIP room. Today the casino has three rooms, the Golden Pearl, the Red Koi VIP room and the main floor.

The resort sits on the water's edge at Town Ground, near the centre of Honiara and three minutes from the wharf. The restaurants look over the gardens and the pool to the Pacific. From the villa terraces the view runs across the water to the Florida Islands, and there is live entertainment in the casino seven nights a week. Fishing, snorkelling and island hopping can be arranged from the resort.

Flying to Honiara.

Honiara International, the old Henderson Field, is east of town, about 20 to 30 minutes by car. Scheduled flights arrive from Brisbane and Port Moresby; private jets clear customs there, with a handler, within the airport's weekday hours unless arranged beforehand.
